The English singer couldn't get fatherly love from his father as he has abandoned by Tom Jones. He wished to meet his father many times but Sir Thomas show no interest in meeting his son. In the absence of his dad, he used to lean towards older bad guys and began smoking weed when he was 16 years old. 

Not only that, he gradually started taking prescription pills, then ecstasy and cocaine. Furthermore, he began carrying guns and even had to sleep on a park bench, car for more than two years when he was befriended by a drug gang.
